The modest Capela de Nosso Senhor dos Passos (Chapel of Our Lord of the Steps), with its single nave, was ordered to be built by Teresa de Mendonça Castelo Branco, a rich heiress and the owner of vast lands and the Solar do Posto. It is a small baroque church, originally integrated into one of the many farms that surrounded the town and now it blends perfectly into the urban network of Mexilhoeira Grande.
